The New Collar, Future proofing tracking.
Pawtrack has been tracking cats for over 10 years. We always come up against the same issues: size, weight, battery life and accuracy.
We always believe that users should always get the very best performance from the collar.
However we live in a changing world, where new techniques and services are constantly being updated and improved. So how do we cope with that and ensure that our users always have the best?
Back in 2020 we designed firmware that could always be updated, automatically without users having to worry. This meant that we could change firmware (via your wifi) to ensure that as systems changed, and more services came on line we were able to make sure that all our customers benefited.
We have plans for 2022 which will significantly improve the tracking system for both our existing customers and our future ones. In May and June 2022 we will be launching new power saving options to allow a significantly increased battery life. We already use wifi to ensure that collars are shut down when at home, but we will be providing 2 new additional lower power modes. The first will allow the collar to go into a deep sleep, and wake up periodically (at a time set by you). This will be ideal for owners who can put the collar on the cat, and don’t need to know what their fur ball has been up to, but just want the peace of mind to know that tracking can be obtained if they start to get concerned.
The second power mode will make use of the onboard accelerometer. The collar will operate in a lower power mode, and will only take positions if movement is detected. The collar will come off the network, but make regular contact with the server to upload tracking data. You can always request the collar to begin usual power mode operations next time the collar checks in with the server.
We are also looking at incorporating wifi/ gps hybrid tracking. This will help enormously with tracking inside buildings and will help provide more accurate tracking.
