Happy 4th of July to all those celebrating!
We do know that this fantastic holiday can be something extremely stressful for cats. Whether that be the loud noises or the crowds of people, cats might be needing an extra bit of TLC to get them through the day. Therefore, we have found 5 top tips to help your cat stay happy and safe!
1) Keep an eye on your cat’s whereabouts
It’s not unheard of for a cat to get jumpy and run away, but the last thing you need is them to dash and hide in a place you can not find them. Therefore, we recommend double-checking your doors and windows around your house, so your cat can’t make a quick escape, and making sure your Pawtrack GPS collar is fully charged just in case!
2) Make sure they are comfortable
After making sure they are in a safe location, it is always best to give them the comfort they need around them. A hiding spot and some blankets can do a great deal to block out the noise of fireworks and make sure your cat is extra cosy all tucked up! It is good to consider if your cat is jumpy that they are not perched high where they can fall and hurt themselves, so make a little bed for them somewhere safe and avoid these high-up places for today.
3) Good vibrations
Great! So far, your cat is safe and comfortable, but why not take things that little extra step and put some relaxing sounds or music on for them! We have found that there are playlists created across multiple music platforms to help with this exact situation, or of course, play your cat’s favourite song on repeat for extra enjoyment (at your own expense!).
4) A little extra something else
So perhaps you have tried all of the above and your cat is still not settling down. No worries! There are some natural remedies to help calm your cat down such as scented plug-ins or sprays that have certain pheromones to help calm your cat and reduce anxiety. Please make sure that these are cat friendly though, as, of course, essential oils are toxic to cats.
Now for the most important part, you! Even if you can not be with your cat all night for any reason at all, it is always important to let them know they are loved. Perhaps set them down with an extra treat, a blanket that smells like you, or give them some extra cuddles before you walk out the door. With Pawtrack GPS cat tracking collar, you will know your cat is safe at home wherever you are celebrating, waiting for you to come home for another day of fun!
